The show’s story revolves around the fake heiress, Anna Delvey, who was a con artist. Anna Delvey started rising to fame in 2018. It was because she was a con artist. She started acting to be very rich just to get rid of the money of the rich in New York.

The true story of Anna Delvey resulted in the making of the show Inventing Anna. Delvey’s real name on the show is Anna Sorokin. But, she changed her name to act as a German heiress. She plans to open a Soho House-esque club for artists. Eventually, her plan fell through when she failed to pay her expensive hotel bills at the 11 Howard boutique hotel. In October 2017, Anna was arrested after failing to pay her numerous bills. The series ends with Anna’s arrest and trial in 2019.

Is Anna still in jail?

The answer to this question is NO. She was in prison due to numerous crimes, grand larceny and theft of services. A judge sentenced her to 12 years in prison. Anna is also in prison for having defrauded numerous hotels, restaurants and banks. She also defrauded a private jet operator out of $200,000. Anna began to apologize and expressed remorse during a parole hearing in October 2020. Sorokin said she was truly ashamed and sorry for what she had done. In an interview with The New York Times, Sorokin said she spent her time doing yoga and culinary arts in prison. Eventually, in February 2021, Delvey is released from prison on parole and given good behavior.

Anna Delvey was released from prison in February 2021. However, as of March 2021, she is currently detained by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for overstaying her visa. Sorokin was born in Russia and raised in Germany. She is still in detention and is waiting to find out if she will be deported to Germany. Anna had only a few weeks of freedom in New York after her release in February 2021. After her release, Sorokin signed a lease for an apartment in Manhattan. To move forward in life, she also started developing offerings for her fashion line.

Anna also shared her anger by writing an essay for the Insider. She explained how she has been going through all this since March 2021. She also contracted Covid-19 behind bars. Sorokin expressed, as the world ponders Julia Garner’s focus on her role in Inventing Anna, she sits in an orange jumpsuit in the nation’s jail under total quarantine. She expressed her feelings saying that her visa overstay was unintentional. Anna said she has never broken a single ICE rule since she was there. All she wants is to go from there.

What exactly happened to Anna?

It all started when Anna was 19. She was a passionate student who left her hometown in Germany to pursue her fashion studies in Paris. Sorokin told the New York Times that her name was Delvey from Paris. Her fashion degree eventually brought her to New York to attend the famous New York Fashion Week. She always wanted to be in New York. Therefore, she began to impersonate the fake German heiress. Anna has created a false vision of wealth around her false identity of Anna Delvey. Sorokin has spent years defrauding individuals, hotels, banks and even private jet operators. It wasn’t until August 2017 that Anna was arrested for multiple frauds.
