According to the latest update, Khanna will co-produce the upcoming three-part franchise in partnership with Sony Pictures. Several popular names are doing the rounds on the internet about the casting, but none have been confirmed yet.
In 2013, when Mukesh Khanna promoted his television movie titled Hamaara Hero Shaktimaan, the veteran spoke about the iconic show and turned down top actors such as Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan to take over the superhero from him. Instead, he gave a cheeky reply, saying that only he can play the part perfectly and not some A-listers.
Mukesh Khanna said, “I can’t let Akshay Kumar play Shaktimaan, I can’t let Ajay Devgn play Shaktimaan. They are good actors. I can’t even let Shah Rukh Khan play Shaktimaan because they don’t have the image I have.”
He further shared: “So I have to do this and I would say I have the guts to play Shaktimaan again because there was no one before Mukesh Khanna.”
Speaking further about the superhero movies of Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan, Mukesh Khanna said, “Krrish is not a superhero. He just saved his father, now he can become a superhero if he saves the whole world. Ra.One is definitely not a superhero. I’m sorry, maybe Shah Rukh might feel bad, but Ra.One is not a superhero. You can call Ra.One, Terminator, is a good movie with special effects. But I’m sorry to say that Ra.One isn’t a superhero.”
