Spider-Man: No Way Home crosses Avatar to officially become the third highest-grossing film of all time in the US. It was a wonderful box office journey for the Tom Holland starrer, which was released two months ago. The film has broken several records since the day of its opening weekend and has now broken another.
Directed by Jon Watts, the film turned out to be a surprising super hit and the biggest movie of 2021. It saw the return of the former Spideys, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, who battled Tom’s version with original villains like Green Goblin, Dr. Otto Ocativius and more.
The latest update regarding Spider-Man: No Way Home is that it has now finally surpassed James Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster, Avatar. The Tom Holland led has amassed about $1.8 billion at the box office worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. This includes $760.98 million in your own country and $1.04 billion international.
Meanwhile, Avatar $749.76 million in your own country. Spider-Man: No Way Home is now the third biggest movie in the US and is just behind Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. While Tom Holland’s lead actor has broken many records and helped bring it back to theaters, the film was rejected for the Best Picture nomination at the 2022 Oscars, leaving fans upset.
However, it was nominated in the Special Effects category. While we’re on the box office numbers, it turns out the cast didn’t expect the movie to get this big. Recently, Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Doctor Strange, said he had doubts about the film’s projections.
Spider-Man: No Way Home Is Just A Few Million Away From Crossing The $2 billion marking. What’s really interesting is that the Tom Holland-led was able to make these numbers as they were released under a pandemic, when moviegoer capacity was relatively lower.
