Benedict Cumberbatch doubted the box office projections of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The actor is making a big splash as he will be appearing in his second standalone film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, on May 6. There are rumors of Iron Man’s return in the film, as fans speculate that it will be Hollywood hunk Tom Cruise who will appear as the armored superhero.
A new trailer for Benedict’s upcoming Marvel movie has made them even more confident about Tom as Tony Stark in the new movie. The trailer shows a flying creature in armor, which they assume is the Avenger.
Since Spider-Man: No Way Home has opened the path to the multiverse, this could happen a lot, and fans might see Tom Cruise as Iron Man. Meanwhile, Benedict Cumberbatch, who also appeared as Doctor Strange in the Tom Holland starrer, revealed that he didn’t believe the film’s box office projections.
While speaking to Empire, Benedict Cumberbatch recalls talking to Kevin Feige about how great Spider-Man: No Way Home could be. The Marvel boss, who was optimistic about Tom Holland’s Spidey’s third standalone film, said it could shape the future of cinema, but Cumberbatch was unimpressed.
“I think when Kevin Feige first said, ‘We’ll know about the future of cinema, or the cinema experience, after this movie,’ I thought, ‘Okay, everyone here drinks too much of the Kool-Aid,'” My ignorance was exposed,” said the Doctor Strange actor in the Multiverse of Madness.
For the inexperienced, Spider-Man: No Way Home has crossed over $1.8 billion at the box office around the world. The lead actor Benedict Cumberbatch has also crossed Avatar to become the third highest grossing film of all time in the US, while ranking sixth worldwide.
