Hollywood star Emma Thompson says her sex scene in ‘Good Luck to You, Leo Grande’ was “the hardest” thing she’s ever done.

The Academy Award winner has admitted that she found it challenging to be screwed in front of the camera, highlighting how women “have been brainwashed our entire lives into hating our bodies,” reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Speaking at a press conference for the Berlinale Special Gala in Berlin, Emma Thompson said: “When I stand in front of a mirror, I always pull something, otherwise I turn sideways, I do something. I can’t just stand there. Why would I do that, it’s horrible.

Emma Thompson added: “But that’s the problem, isn’t it, that women have been brainwashed all our lives to hate our bodies. That’s just the fact. And everything around us reminds us how imperfect we are, and everything is wrong with us.”

She said: “It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. So I really did something I’ve never done as an actor.”

Emma Thompson encouraged the public to “just accept” and “don’t judge” themselves the next time they see themselves naked.

Her latest comments on the subject come after the veteran actress recently discussed the “terrible demands” placed on women to maintain perfect figures.

She said: “Nothing has changed in the terrible demands placed on women in the real world, as well as in the acting. This thing of being thin is still the same as it once was, and in some ways I think it’s worse now.”

The ‘Cruella’ actress shrugged her shoulders to go under the knife, saying it’s “a very strange thing to do” when aging is “all natural”.

When asked if she’s ever considered cosmetic surgery, she replied, “Why would you do that to yourself? I just don’t understand.

“I really think cutting yourself off and putting it in a different place to avoid doing what you actually do, which is aging, which is completely natural, is a form of collective psychosis. I think it’s really weird to do.”

Emma Thompson explained that she has “always” been against plastic surgery, noting that she is against women being told what to “do” with their own bodies.

She added: “I’ve always thought that, though. But I’ve always been sort of a card-carrying militant feminist when it comes to women’s bodies and what’s been done to them, what we’re told to expect of ourselves, what we’re told to put on ourselves.”
