Final Fantasy XIV finally gets its free trial back on Feb. 22, more than two months after Square Enix stopped offering it to reduce player tax after the incredibly popular endwalker extension. endwalker may actually have been at popular when it was first released in December. The trial version doesn’t actually include access to the latest expansion. But the game’s servers couldn’t adequately support the combination of people rushing to play the new content and a new wave of new players wanting to see what the hype was all about. Queues got so long that Square Enix was forced to both temporarily stop selling the game and do away with the free trial in an effort to ensure existing players could get access. And while sales of the game resumed in January, the free trial has been absent until now.
