After previously announcing that it is not a new The Sims 4 wedding package in Russia due to the country’s anti-LGBTQ laws, EA has reversed course by saying it will sell now My Wedding Stories in Russia with all of its LGBTQ content and marketing intact.

In a message on her website The Sims team wrote:

Last week we shared the update below about our upcoming game pack ‘My Wedding Stories’. At the time, we felt that our team could not freely share Cam and Dom’s same-sex stories in Russia and decided that the best way to keep our promise to share their story was not to get this package out of there. bring.

Since then, we’ve listened to the outpouring of feelings from our community, including both support for our decision and concern for their fellow community members. It is equally important for us to stand for our values, including against homophobia, and to share these kinds of stories with those who want and need it most.

With this in mind we have reassessed our options and realized we can do more than we initially thought and we will now The Sims 4 Game Pack “My Wedding Stories” for our community in Russia, unchanged and unchanged, with Dom and Cam.

My Wedding Stories is a The Sims 4 content pack that allows players to plan every aspect of a perfect wedding. Marketing materials for the package featured the lesbian couple Camille and Dominique and the story of their walk down the aisle. In Russia, anti-LGBTQ laws prohibit all content that celebrates or promotes “non-traditional sexual relations between minors.” Out of concern that the queer couple at the heart of the game’s marketing would violate that law, EA decided not to sell the package in Russia, prompting the company both praise and criticism from Sims fans.

Originally slated for release on February 17, this new development will delay the game to February 23.
