While Alia Bhatt enjoys a huge following in the country but not many people know that she cannot vote in elections in India. She also spoke about it ahead of the 2014 general election. Speaking to Hindustan Times, she said: ‘Unfortunately I cannot vote because I have a British passport. I am out of date this time (to get the official voting documents), but I will try to get my voting card next time (elections) once I have dual citizenship. (sic; India doesn’t actually allow dual citizenship).”
Meanwhile, Alia is gearing up for the release of her movie Gangubai Kathiawadi. Since the trailer was released, fans have been excited to see her in a never-before-seen avatar. Some said she’s too young to play such a larger-than-life dynamic role.
In an exclusive conversation with Koimoi, Alia Bhatt addressed the concerns people had against her. She said: “Yeah, people must have suggested a casting. But I feel like you shouldn’t really get into it. Someone who is a director who has been working for 25 years clearly knows who to star. I I thought it was okay that people thought I wasn’t right for the part, because that’s their own perspective.”
