Who wouldn’t want to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s superhero movies? In a recent interview, Channing Tatum revealed that he stopped watching Marvel movies after his solo movie ‘Gambit’ was canceled. Scroll below to read the scoop.
For those of you who don’t know, Gambit was founded in 2016 and Channing fans went gaga over the news. But happiness soon turned to sadness, because when Disney acquired the rights to the character, the project was shelved.
In a recent interview with Variety, Channing Tatum let it be known that his Marvel project was being canceled and revealed that he was really upset about it. The actor even stopped watching the MCU movies after the incident.
Channing Tatum said: “Once Gambit left, I was so traumatized. I turned off my Marvel machine. I didn’t get to see a single movie. I loved that character. It was just too sad. It was like losing a friend because I was so ready to play him.”
The Step Up actor revealed that he was all set to start shooting for the project, saying, “We were right on the one-yard line,” he says. “We had cast the film. We had opened a production office. We were on our way to film in New Orleans. Disney had just gotten the X-Men (Gambit is part of the X-Men universe) from Fox. I think they had to redesign the X-Men from scratch.”
And well, Channing Tatum still hasn’t given up hope of playing this character in the MCU. We hope Disney listens to the actor and us and we can’t wait to see him make his big debut in Marvel soon!
