Black-ish Season 8 Episode 7 Recap

The episode begins with Dre waking up and walking to her closet and admiring her sneakers and bragging about her expensive shoes. Each show has a story and costs four figures. After admiring his sneakers, Bow interrupts him to ask Dre if he’s taking the kids to school, but Dre is just too full of himself in the face of some materialistic American consumerism.

Later, Dre walks into work and puts her feet up on the table, bragging – again – about her shoes. Only to find out that his white colleague has the same rare pair of shoes. He feels bad. Dre calls his son and a friend. They are about to plan a buyout of rare sneakers to compete with the colleague. After that, we return home, where Bow is shocked that her daughter is asking her for a day off from school, not for fun, but to study. Bow understands and approves but wants to keep it from Dre. But it turns out that Pops was listening all along.

A row in a shoe store

Dre takes his kids to his super special, super secret shoe store, but he’s amazed to find there’s a huge line. After failing to find the sneakers, he hooks up with a sleazy guy who sells sneakers, only to find that his sneaker take is his co-worker. Dre is amazed that his co-worker has a huge shoebox – and much better than his. They get super-nerd on the sneaker chat.

Back home, Bow’s daughter tells him she didn’t do any homework, so the school sent her a letter. She delivers the letter to Bow after thanking her for not letting her go to school – all in the presence of Pops, whose disapproving looks are abysmal towards Bow. And Bow begins to regret his decision when his daughter asks him to give her permission to go to a bar for a band concert. So, Bow slams and cuts it, and Pops is happy to teach Bow a lesson.
