The death of legendary singer Bappi Lahiri has sent shockwaves across the country. The Disco King of Bollywood was 69 when he took his last breath this morning. Since the news came out, the singers’ friends, family and admirers mourned the loss of the evergreen singer.

The news was confirmed by Dr. Deepak Namjoshi, director of CritiCare Hospital, said he died due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea). The family of the veteran singers also shared an official statement that the funeral will take place tomorrow after the arrival of his son Bappa from LA.

According to the official statement from the hospital, Bappi Lahiri was in the hospital for 29 days. He recovered well and was discharged home on February 15. However, after a day at home, his health deteriorated again. He was returned to Criticare Hospital in critical condition and succumbed to his illness around 11:45 PM. Now a number of celebrities from the Bollywood and television industries have paid their respects.

Vijay Vikram Singh: A great loss. His songs are still current in today’s time and are being remixed. That in itself speaks for the class and talent of Bappi da. His music will stay with us forever and will entertain music lovers for generations to come. It’s a sad day for the entire music industry.

Pooja Misrra: Bappi Lahiri made disco popular in the 80s and 90s and is known as the disco king. I went to his house and recorded a riveting interview with him and spent the whole day with him and his family. It’s heartbreaking to know he’s gone. His music will live on… Especially at events, parties and discos. May his soul rest in peace… Om Shanti!

Deepika Singh: It is sad that we lose such gems that the new generation will get from good music, may his soul rest in peace.
